On March 28, 2024, in expectation of the total solar eclipse on April 8, 91ÇÑ×Ó will host Wonder & Awe: Why Everyone Should Experience a Total Eclipse with Eclipse Chaser Leticia Ferrer.
Ferrer, a Dallas-based author, podcast host, and eclipse expert, will share her experiences and knowledge about the joy, wonder, and awe of a total eclipse. This year’s event will be her 21st time observing a total solar eclipse. Over the years, she has traveled to seven continents and six oceans to view this cosmic phenomenon.
91ÇÑ×Ó faculty members Dr. Anthony Ololo and Dr. Sagar Paudel will also guide participants through proper eclipse viewing techniques, including how to use a telescope and pinhole cameras.
The 2024 total solar eclipse will occur over North America and Texas is in what experts call the “path of totality.” A total eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the earth and sun, completely covering the sun’s surface along a narrow path. The eclipse is set to hit Hillsboro at 1:38 p.m. on Monday, April 8.
